Web Design in Locks Heath & SO31
Friendly, affordable websites for small businesses in Locks Heath, Park Gate, Sarisbury and Swanwick. I'm a freelance web designer based just a few miles away in Fareham, and I'll build you a website that helps your neighbours find you, contact you and choose you.
A local web designer for Locks Heath small businesses
Locks Heath is a community of independent businesses, from salons and cafés around the shopping village to tradespeople and sole traders working from home. A good website helps people nearby find you when word of mouth isn't enough.
I'm a freelance web designer based in Fareham, a few miles up the road, so I know the area and can pop over for a chat if that's easier than a video call. I build clean, quick WordPress websites that you can edit yourself, at a fair, fixed price.
You won't be handed to an agency or a junior. You'll deal with me from the first conversation right through to launch and beyond, and you'll always know what you're paying and why.

Small, independent, community-minded businesses are the heart of the area. Here's how I help some of them.
Salons, beauty and wellbeing
Hairdressers, beauticians, massage therapists and fitness instructors need a site that looks as good as the work does. A gallery, a price list, booking links and easy contact turn browsers into appointments.
Tradespeople and home services
Builders, electricians, plumbers, gardeners, cleaners and decorators live off recommendations. A clear website with your services, areas covered and genuine reviews gives those recommendations somewhere to land.
Cafés, takeaways and local food
Show your menu, opening hours and location clearly, and make it easy to call or order. Accurate details online mean fewer missed customers and fewer phone calls asking what time you close.
Clubs, classes and childcare
Dance schools, tutors, sports clubs, nurseries and holiday clubs need timetables, prices and sign-up details that are simple to keep current. I'll build something you can edit without asking anyone for help.
Independent shops and online sellers
If you sell locally and want to sell further afield, a WooCommerce shop gives you a site you control instead of a marketplace that takes a cut. I'll set up payments, delivery and stock so you can focus on making and selling.
Care, clinics and professional practices
Physios, therapists, accountants, financial advisers and other professionals need to look trustworthy at first glance. A clear, calm site that explains what you do and how to book is the best place to start.
Your Local Web Designer
A friendly web designer just down the road
I'm Adam, a WordPress developer and web designer with over fifteen years of experience. I'm based in Fareham, and I know the area well enough to understand how local businesses actually get customers here: recommendations, community groups, Google Maps and the occasional good review.
The area has a long history of small independent businesses getting known well beyond their own doorstep. Once Swanwick station opened in 1888, strawberries grown around Locks Heath and Warsash were being sent by rail all over the country. A good website does the same job today, just with fewer punnets.
Helping Locks Heath businesses get found locally
Most of your customers probably live within a few miles, and they're searching on their phones. That makes local search the most valuable place to show up.
Locks Heath uses Southampton as its Royal Mail post town, and the SO31 postcode covers a wide patch that also takes in Park Gate, Sarisbury Green, Swanwick, Hamble and Bursledon. That can confuse how listings and directories place your business, so I make sure your address, service area and Google Business Profile are set up consistently.
I also work with businesses in Titchfield and Whiteley. If you're nearer the river, see my Warsash web design page, for the wider city see Southampton, and for the whole county see Hampshire.
Show up on Google Maps
A complete, accurate Google Business Profile helps you appear when someone nearby searches for what you do. I'll help you set it up and link it to your website.Near-me searches
People search for things like hairdresser near me or electrician Locks Heath in the moment. Your site needs to load fast and put contact one tap away.A site you own
Facebook pages and marketplaces are useful, but you don't control them. Your own website is a permanent home for your business that you fully own.Reviews that build trust
A few genuine reviews go a long way locally. I'll show you how to collect them and how to show them off on your site. From hello to launched

Frequently asked questions
Does my small Locks Heath business really need a website?
If customers ever look for you online, yes. A website you own is the one place where you control what people see, how they contact you and how you appear in Google. Social media pages can support it, but they shouldn't be your only presence.
I only have a Facebook page. Is that enough?
It's a start, but it has limits. Facebook pages are hard to rank in search engines, and you can't control the layout, the algorithm or what the platform decides to change next. A simple website gives you a home base, and your social pages can link back to it.
How much does a website cost for a small local business?
A simple, professional small business website typically starts from around £500–£1,000, depending on the number of pages and features. I'll give you a fixed quote before starting, so there are no surprises.
Can we meet in person?
Absolutely. I'm based in Fareham, a short drive from Locks Heath, so meeting locally is easy. Plenty of clients prefer email or a phone call, and that works fine too.
How do I appear on Google Maps when people search near me?
It starts with a Google Business Profile that's completely filled in, with the right categories, accurate hours, photos and reviews. Your website then backs it up with clear local content. I can set up both, and show you how to keep your listing current.
My address says Southampton but I'm in Locks Heath. Does that matter?
It's common, because Royal Mail uses Southampton as the post town for the SO31 postcode area. It isn't a problem as long as your details are consistent everywhere they appear. I'll check your website, Google Business Profile and main directory listings so they all tell the same story.
Do you also work with businesses in Park Gate, Sarisbury, Swanwick and Titchfield?
Yes, all of them, plus Whiteley and Fareham. If you're down towards the river, have a look at my Warsash page too.
My current website is dated. Can you refresh it?
Yes, and I'd start by looking at what you have. Sometimes a redesign is the right answer, and sometimes a few targeted fixes to speed, layout and wording go a long way. I'll tell you honestly which is which.
How long will it take?
Most small business websites take two to four weeks. If you have your wording and photos ready it can be quicker, and if you need help with them we'll build that time in.
Do I need to buy hosting and a domain name myself?
I don't sell hosting directly, but I'll recommend reliable providers and handle all the setup, so you own your accounts and stay in control. If you already have a domain name and hosting, we can usually use them.
Who looks after my website after it goes live?
You can update it yourself, and I'm always available for help. If you'd rather not think about updates, backups and security, my maintenance plans start from £75 a month.
